EDUCATION
Prior to completing his undergraduate degree in the General Biological Sciences Program at the University of Alberta, he was offered early admission to medical school at the University of Calgary. Graduating as the third youngest medical student in his class, he received two years of residency training in Diagnostic Radiology before choosing to pursue Family Medicine training. Due to his natural talent of working with his hands and his fond eye for detail, he developed a keen interest in skin and hair health and medical aesthetics. Dr. Chao trained with numerous well-known dermatologists and surgeons to advance his knowledge and techniques in treating various skin conditions. He became a Certificant of the College of Family Physicians of Canada in 2018. He provided a combination of primary care and consultative care for patients with various skin concerns.
Dr. Chao continues to finesse his knowledge and skills in skin and hair health by participating in various local and international Continuing Medical Education events to ensure his patients receive the most up-to-date and safe treatments.
Dr. Chao is a specialist in Family Medicine with a focus in skin disorders.
He is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, at the University of Alberta.
