EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Dr. Matthew Bolshin, born and raised in Toronto, is a board-certified podiatrist dedicated to advancing the field of podiatric medicine. He completed his undergraduate studies in biology at York University and The University of Ontario Institute of Technology. Pursuing his passion further, Dr. Bolshin attended Barry University in Miami, Florida, where he graduated near the top of his class in 2015. His academic achievements include receiving an academic merit scholarship throughout his four years and a scholarship for clinical excellence in his final year. Consistently on the Dean’s List, Dr. Bolshin’s commitment to excellence set the stage for a distinguished career.

Following his graduation, Dr. Bolshin completed a rigorous three-year residency program in both elective and non-elective foot and ankle surgery at Westchester General Hospital, with a focus on reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery. Working in Florida’s largest podiatric medicine and surgery residency, he trained under leading experts and honed his skills as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERTISE AND LEADERSHIP

Dr. Bolshin’s dedication to ongoing education and innovation ensures that his patients benefit from the latest advancements in podiatric medicine and surgery. His professional focus includes all aspects of foot and ankle surgery, sports medicine, and pediatrics. During his training, he worked with high-performance athletes, including players from the Miami Heat, as well as recreational athletes. Now based in North Vancouver, he continues his involvement in sports medicine as a member of SportMedBC.

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Bolshin is recognized for his commitment to advancing foot health education across British Columbia. He frequently lectures to foot care nurses, sharing his expertise and strategies for managing podiatric challenges. His recent presentation to the T1D Huddle at the University of British Columbia focused on preventive foot care for individuals with Type 1 diabetes, fostering collaboration to promote improved patient outcomes.

HOBBIES & INTERESTS

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Bolshin is an avid sports fan with a love for hockey, baseball, and fitness. He is also a music enthusiast who enjoys playing the piano and saxophone. Embracing the active lifestyle in North Vancouver, Dr. Bolshin looks forward to supporting his community’s foot and ankle health and helping patients stay active and engaged in the activities they love.
