EDUCATION
Vesna Papuga earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Alberta in 2007 and graduated from the University of Northern British Columbia from the Masters in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner program in 2022. She also holds a Masters in Nursing (Global Health) degree from McGill University (2012).
Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Vesna have worked as an RN for 15 years, in many different clinical settings and roles. She started my nursing career at the University of Alberta Hospital in Pulmonary/TB medicine and Cardiology and has worked in Primary Care as a nurse clinician in Montreal, QC and have taught at two nursing colleges there.
Vesna has also devoted time to research on the topic of HIV Education of Youth in Tanzania. In addition, she has also worked as Community Health Nurse, and Primary Care Practice Consultant for the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch at Health Canada, working in remote Cree Nation communities in Northern Alberta.
She began her career as an NP, initially working in Urgent Care, however, she quickly moved to Primary Care as she found her passion for working with families and individuals of all ages. She believes in a patient-centered approach and focusing on empowering patients through education and preventive care as well as fostering long-term relationships with families and have a passion for working with diverse populations.
